Hi there,
I've been given an old Cybercom laptop and am having difficulty installing Ubuntu on it.
First problem, the CD/DVD drive no longer reads discs.
I've tried using the wubi.exe windows installer and that works for a while, when i reboot and choose to boot Ubuntu to complete installation I am given error messages about the root file system. I'm wondering if this is because the hard drive is split into 3 partitions for some weird reason. E:/ is the drive where windows is currently installed for some reason.
I've been trying to create a bootable USB on a 1gb compact flash card but haven't had much luck so far. I adjust the bios (Phoenix First Bios it's called)to boot from removable devices but it doesn't seem to like do that. I tried the Linux Live program to crreate the bootable.
If anyone can help me with this it will b greatly appreciated :)
Cheers
Jay
