Morning everyone. Fresh meat here.
I have a freshly wiped hdd and I am trying to install ubuntu from a usb pendrive but it's not working. If I have the hdd hooked up at the point of power up then the computer automatically tries to boot from the hdd, yet if the hdd isnt connected then the computer will boot from the pendrive. I'm a little lost here and in need of assistance.

Some computers shows a "press F2 key to boot menu" or something like that before booting the O.S.

Have you set the boot options in your BIOS?

This is kind of combining the previous two posts, but you need to edit your BIOS settings to boot from CD or USB first. When your computer boots up, you should briefly see something that says "Press <this key> for BIOS options/ROM based setup/etc." where <this key> is a certain key (i.e. f2, f10, ESC/Escape, etc.) and after "for" comes some kind of setup options.
