Hi All,

(apologies for cross-posting -- this is also in the newbie questions in the linux mint forums)

Anyway, my issue:

When I boot into Cinnamon without my second monitor plugged in, everything works fine. Please see first attached screenshot.

When I plug in my second monitor, the panels go away, the icons go away, and the menu bar on top of open windows disappears. Please see second screenshot. When I do this, I cannot get to a terminal hitting control/alt/t.

When I unplug my second monitor, the panels and menubars are still gone, as are the icons.

This started happening after playing a game on my secondary monitor that resized things.

How can I fix this? I really really prefer cinnamon to unity, but with such a small laptop screen, I rely on the second monitor to get work done.

Thanks for any help!

(System specs: Thinkpad X201, Ubuntu 12.04, 64 bit, Intel Ironlake Mobile Graphics card)

and the problem mysteriously fixed itself, except that now the icons are on the wrong monitor, and cannot be dragged to the laptop monitor. weird.
