The problem I am encountering is a black screen with a blinking cursor in the top left corner after booting up Ubuntu 12.04. First the GRUB pops up and I choose to boot Ubuntu, then a blank purple screen comes up and then the infinitely blinking cursor attacks. Maybe not infinite but I left it on all night and it was still there.
This isn't the first time I have had trouble installing Ubuntu 12.04 on this computer. However, I used the same installation disc on another laptop and it worked perfectly. Whenever I try to install it on this laptop, I always run into some sort of trouble. I have also tried 3 other distros and they all give me the infinitely blinking cursor after reboot. Im wondering if it is just something wrong with my pc. Any ideas on what could be causing this madness where I can't boot any linux distro on my laptop?
