I think I have managed to mess up installing mate 1.4 on 12.04 form not reading instructions carefully and I would like to remove it entirely and redo it if possible.

How would I go about doing this, I found a lot of info for adding it, but none clearly explaining how to completely get rid of it?

Mods: I mentioned this as a possibility in my other thread, but figured this new question would deserve a whole different thread, forgive me if I'm wrong.

A bit late but If you use MATE (or any DE), it's better to use it on a distro that promotes it. I'm not sure that Ubuntu devs have had much to do with the development of MATE.
