Is it supposed to signify the plant?

Why is an Audi called an Audi?

It's a name that the makers liked.

Maybe the founders like corner-case problems which reveal worst-case performance scenarios for optimization algorithms (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klee–Minty_cub)...

I think it's simply because the older version had a "mint coloured" theme. No idea if they still go with that theme these days but that was the obvious reason why a few years back.

It's more to do with the colour "Mint Green" than the plant. :)

Why bachmann and not anything else?

It's actually a massive conspiracy. Mint is an acronym M.I.N.T: Mind Infiltrating Nano Transmitters. When you install Mint it begins repurposing your computer to create tiny little robots the size of grain of dust which get flung into your face by the cooling fans. These things get into your brain and cause you to spread the word of Mint. Once they've got enough drones, the nanites will then activate some unknown, dread protocol.

Not true, but funny if it was :D

I think the mint green explanation is the right one :)

In french the adjective follows the noun.

They went to randomwordgenerator.net and it gave them Mint. If I based a distro from that, it would be called abstemious.

In french the adjective follows the noun.

I believe that Samoan and Māori both have a similar convention, but we'd have to make adjustments because another convention is that words end with a vowel.

I read somewhere they call it Mint because it supposed to be a fresh feeling because it's "minty clean"
