Hey i am currently building a new computer and would like to get some advice for what get before i spend money. Firstly i will tell you what i already have.

Mobo - Asus m5a97
CPU - amd fx 8120
GPU - nvidia 9800gt

Now the parts i am planning to buy.

RAM - http://www.msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=8095
GPU - Upgrading to a radeon 7770.

Does anyone know how well the 7770 runs with the ati drivers. Should i possibly get a different card.

I'm fairly sure the ram is compatible buy would like verification just in case.

Thankyou in advance for the help.

I dont see a problem, usually Ubuntu is pretty good anymore with the ati/amd drivers

Edit: Please ignore, I somehow thought the first specs you posted were the ones you wanted to have.

I didn't buy it and I don't know how forum mods feel about me suggesting it. But one of my fav magazines just came out specifically talking about hardware and linux compatibility. You might want to check it out in the Ubuntu Software Center, only $7 US.
"Linux Format Magazine - Issue 161 - Upgrade Your PC Today!" I might buy it now because I have had such good experiences with Linux Format and HW compatibility has always been a hard subject for me also.

Ram is fine by the looks of things, just compare the voltages of the dimms and what the motherboard support but I think this is mostly a Intel issue, could be wrong.

Get a nVidia GPU and make your life easier.
