View Full Version : [ubuntu] Why scatter windows between workspaces!?

I find that Ubuntu 12.04 seems to be automatically spreading out working windows between workspaces. I'll have a few windows open, moving files between, and all of a sudden, one window will be on a different plane to another, rendering the moving operation impossible, thus demanding a re-ordering of the windows, occasionally a complete closing and re-opening of some for realignment! Debilitating!

Thanks for your thoughts

I'm not sure I understand what you're describing, but I think what is happening is that one of your widows goes too close to what I call (with some annoyance!) the Magic Margins, at which time it is automatically a) enlarged to full screen, or b) pushed off to another workspace. I can't get along with that kind of thing, which is why I use Xfce on 12.04 instead of Unity. It may not be as visually elaborate, but it is manageable.
