I've been working on a few bug work-arounds, two examples:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/abiword/+bug/1019621

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/988290

But sometimes I just need to listen to music while doing absolutely nothing :D

Currently I simply love the sound of Imelda May. She truly has an amazing voice (whether singing or speaking). Never fails to get me out of the chair!

Second is Ringo Starr. He's amazed me for years, even with his country western and blues work, but he really reignited my interest when he performed with Ben Harper.

Third is Grace Potter, that's quite the medicine :D

Who do you listen to when it's time to do nothing

There is no substitute for Pink Floyd in this situation (Wish You Were Here album in particular). Guaranteed to chill the brain.

Kruder and Dorfmeister's K&D Sessions is excellent for soothing the fried brainium.

Yeah, I especially like their version of Bug Powder Dust.

As for me, when I'm stressed or too tired I listen any chillout or lounge online radio. (mostly di.fm, sometimes the Groove Salad channel at SomaFM).

That said, I can listen anything from chillout/lounge to Tool, Porcupine Tree (love PT), and even some Sepultura. And I also like jazz and blues.

Sergei Rachmaninoff, ideally Piano Concerto No. 2, ideally flac and ideally via USB DAC/headphone amp. Or Pink Floyd.

Bagpipes and accordions.

Makes you feel like whatever you were doing before was not so bad after all.

Lute music by John Dowland. I have the complete set.

It's water in a crystalline stream. On the road to recovery, the Lute Suites of Sylvius Leopold Weiss and Bach.

Bottom line: Solo Instruments. Clean harmonies. Clear lines.

I have a severe aversion to frying my brain !!

I do, however, like to sit in the garden and enjoy Natures melody !

I really like Virgin Soldiers (http://www.virginsoldiers.com).
Prior to finding about them, it would have been Pink Floyd, John Martyn or Renaissance.

All sorts of everything. Recently I really like the Diablo String Orchestra, their track "The Tap Dancers Dilema" is my favorite upbeat one so far this century.

Rollins Band - Liar (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaysTVcounI)

It lifts up my spirit.

Beethoven's Fur Elise or anything classical with a nice piano melody. The sound of rain also, very soothing.

first:

sudo apt-get install sox
then:

play -c 2 -n synth whitenoise band -n 100 24 band -n 300 100 gain +20"

White noise that is very close to the sound they used as the background engine noise of the USS Enterprise from Star Trek. Combined with some noise isolating headphones, it helps me stay focused without being "in the way"

I aliased this to "engage" in my bashrc for extra dork points.

Yeah, I have it in a screen session that has been running for 342 hours now. I keep it going all the time.. It's not loud enough for most people to notice it and I can turn it up and plug in my headphones to keep me focused.

That is pretty damn awesome.

Too bad you can't forward sound over ssh...

Actually you can forward sound over SSH, but it looks complicated and would add a bit of packages to a headless server...

EDIT: Also this:

I never thought about forwarding the sound over ssh... I only run it in a screen-session to keep from tying up the terminal.

I'm usually not a fan of this sort of stuff, but when brain is fried (and it regularly is) I tend to listen to deadmau5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9IBbMW2o_o&feature=relate (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9IBbMW2o_o&feature=related)

Usually, though, jazz, or 'classical'.

http://edharrison.bandcamp.com/ got a pay-what-you-deal going for his 2 Neotokyo albums, great stuff. Electronic Ambience, very Akira- and Ghost in the Shell-like.

In retrospect, probably better for coding and getting work done than relaxing the brain ^^.

Agree :D this is really good stuff, something that i looking for long time! Also deadmau5 from MG&TL is pretty good, but not that touchy.
