Good Evening,

I am new to linux, and I recently wanted to try to switch from windows vista OS to linux. I have used Ubuntu before on an older laptop and everything worked well. (past 2 weeks)

Unfortunately, on my Dell Inspiron 8300, when I boot from cd, I get the keyboard = person on screen, than the flashing cursor on the upper left corner of the screen, than my monitor says there is no longer an "input" and the screen turns black.

My videocard is an ATI radeon HD4600, and I am currently running 32 bit windows vista. Not sure where to go from here or what info to give to get Ubuntu installed.

I appreciate your time and help. :-D

I just realized that my bios was locked... After resetting all my passwords with the pswd jumper on my motherboard, I was hoping it would let me install. No luck. Basically, once I boot from CD, I am unable to get passed the first screen mentioned above.

Anyone know what do?
