Hi all,
I have an external USB drive that i am mounting using sudo mount -a, the drive is actually a windows share and i am using my windows username and password to authenticate.

I also have a MySQL instance on my ubuntu, and want to change the data directory to one of the folders on my USB drive.

I modified the data dir path in the mysql config file but now i cannot start mysql service. mysql is running as root.

Is this is a permissions issue?

The path to the external drive is /media/GS_Drive.

How can get this to work?

Thanks in advance.
