View Full Version : [ubuntu] Intel Atom 330 install - 64-bit possbile?

I have a mini-ITX 'home server' with an Atom 330 dual-core, 64-bit capable processor.

I was running Solaris x86 on it, which seemed to work OK in 64-bit mode. However, I've decided to abandon Solaris after Oracle's messing with it and my desire to run a virtual machine or two I thought I'd try Ubuntu.

12.04 server LTS appears to install in 64-bit flavor but won't boot - I get a kernel panic after it scans disk devices. 32-bit boots fine, but I can't run kernel-mode ZFS on it (requires 64-bit; 32-bit builds but crashes and after reading is not supported) and thus I'm stuck.

Is there anything I should know to get the 64-bit install to work on an Atom machine? Any kernel args, etc?

Thanks...
