when I was using gnome classic I really liked using the widget layer through compiz and hiding xpad notes to jot down tasks and other things I needed to remember to do. is there a way to do this in gnome 3? i think that the easiest solution would be to modify the activities HUD and add a layer behind the "windows" and "applications" ones and have it collect specific windows for display. maybe this is possible, maybe not, but I would appreciate any help anybody can offer in achieving this (or a similar) result.

thanks,
marc

I am not exactly sure what you want but go to http://extensions.gnome.org and look around there. A single click installs or removes them on your gnome shell desktop so they are easy to try.
