is the installation file only for amd64?

I've just downloaded the 12.04 64 bit version, but the file's name is:
ubuntu-12.04-desktop-amd64.iso

Does it mean that it is intended for an amd processor? Because i'm planning to install it on an Intel core i5 machine.

that's just for historic reasons, yes it is the correct iso for 64-bit Intel x86 CPUs as well
