lubuntu - customisation?

Would any of you kind people be able to point me in the right direction for customising my lubuntu machine with openbox running on it? I am trying to custom code the files for the log in manager etc and can not for the life of me find them! managed to go into the .cong files to change background of log in but what i want to do is reshape it with abit of magic and a few hugs. also I am hoping that the log in manager lives in the same sort of place to make my trip a little easier!
