Random question: would you go for the second generation AMD FX CPU's?

Another interesting link, most probably a rumor.

I tend to stick with nvidia. They are a little more expensive but well worth the price.

If they are cheaper than the Intel chips and give me more cores I don't see why not.

Why are you comparing GPUs to CPUs?
AMD "Piledriver" FX is a CPU.

NVIDIA is a GPU design manufacturer, and does not make CPU's, AMD's piledriver is a CPU line of the AMD FX series.

If my current amd dies out, yeah.
If not, then no.

Yeah I would. Just got one of their top tiered APU's for free to review. So why not?

to be honest- i would rather use AMD's APU called "trinity" (on desktop)- looks really nice; although its less powerful (in processor terms) than my i5 and my gf ti 560 (in terms of gpu); but it consumes much less of energy- the only potential drawback is its uncertain state of support under Linux :/
usually Nvidia + Intel has better one

To be honest, with Intel's current line-up, it would have to be something very special; so I can't see that happening.

maybe if my AM3 board craps out, which i don't see happening before the 3 gen comes out
even if it did i still have my phenom II 965 to put in a am3+ board
and if my cpu ends up not being enough to get the job done i can overclock it
so i don't see my self getting one as what i have is more than enough to get the job done
if it can beat a i3 in gaming i would recommend it for budget gaming, if i am making a basic system for general use i would get a APU

The APU blows away Intel 4000GFx, and with the rumored 8 Core 4GHZ stock PD CPU...DANGGG
