Hello there,
I'm not very computer savvy so this is possibly entirely my fault or normal or something, but I need some help. I upgraded to ubuntu 12.04 through the update manager a short while ago. Everything was fine until one day I decided I wanted to change my icons. I went online to look for a guide on how to do it, found one, and set about installing MyUnity etc. One of the steps mentioned opening Dash by hitting the windows button, which I was confused about as the windows button on my comp does nothing. Someone else mentioned the HUD and I had no idea what they were talking about, which is when I realized I'm evidently not using the same layout or something as most people with 12.04. My question I guess is 'why not?' and also 'how do I get what they have?'

Any help would be very much appreciated. I'm sorry if this seems obvious to some people but like I said I'm not as comp savvy as most people on here.

Thanks a bundle,
Floturtle

PS: The internet tells me 12.04 looks like this (http://i1-news.softpedia-static.com/images/news-700/Ubuntu-12-04-LTS-Alpha-1-Screenshot-Tour.jpg), mine looks like this (http://i.imgur.com/p1F8Z.png)

When you log in select the session you want to use from the icon on the greeter box. It looks like you are using the Gnome fall-back session. A list should appear when the icon is selected.

I was right, I was being totally stupid. Thank you very much for having the patience to explain this to me :) I should probably have figured it out myself, it seems obvious now that you've told me lol
