is there any way to use the default login screen for the ugly lock screen in ubuntu 12.04?

You have LightDM which is meant to be light on system resources. You can install another DM if you like. You probably will like MDM. It is the fork of Gnome Desktop Manager, GDM. MDM is MATE Desktop Manager. MATE is a fork of the Gnome 2 Desktop Environment. Go here http://askubuntu.com/questions/143192/how-can-i-replace-lightdm-with-mdm to install MDM.

It was proposed during 12.04 beta testing, but it caused problems (especially for NVIDIA users), so it was removed.
