Hello,

Can software such as this (http://www.spectorsoft.com/) that the FDA used (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/15/us/fda-surveillance-of-scientists-spread-to-outside-critics.html?pagewanted=all) be used against Ubuntu/Linux based machines?

Is Ubuntu "immune" to key-loggers/surveillance software?

Thanks,
CH :-\"

I'm no security pro, but I thought the only way to install an executible on Ubuntu was through explicit permission. So, unless you've been out playing in the woods, I think it would be hard to do.

I'm sure others have better responses, though.

I "chatted" with the company - they only have Windows and MAC clients, but they can capture at the level of the server (IIS or Exchange).

No, Linux is no immune for keylogging. It can be done from the level of Xorg (which all desktop linuxes use); also about spying on emails- the only "secure" way is to use encryption (unless of course the employer has a private keys- and if they use a company network /with company emails/ they should have them).
