What is output of

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

See it gets stuck when i run

sudo apt-get update

the above output is from that only, so it doesn't get to

sudo apt-get upgrade

and if i run it straight away it say 0 upgrades available...

Try disabling the security and partners repositories to see if the rest will install. Since you are already at a terminal, open Software Sources with:

gksu software-properties-gtk &
Untick the security repository in "Updates" and the partners repository in "Other Software" and try the apt-get commands again.

You could also try switching servers in the "download from" on the main tab.

Glad to hear it!

You should still try to re-enable at least the security repository. If it is still giving you problems perhaps we can get it fixed.

If all your repositories are now working, please mark this thread SOLVED via the 'Thread Tools' link at the top right of the first post.
