I truly hope that this doesn't just get moved to the Unity Mega Discussion Thread because I'm not a Unity hater, nor am I a "died-in-the wool" Unity lover. I personally find it quite usable and actually now prefer it on wide-screens up to 18.5". On larger screens I rather prefer Lubuntu, but this is NOT about my personal preferences.
I maintain about 3 dozen PC's for fellow seniors, a project I began with Hardy (but due to the introduction of pulse-audio I rolled most back to Gutsy until 8.04.1 or 8.04.2) and I've been successful so far in convincing about 1/3 of those users to truly consider Unity :D
For those who can't or won't adapt I cooked this up:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1966370
That's all fine and good I guess, but I think my intro to Unity is lacking in some way. My personal two favorite links are:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/29553/how-can-i-configure-unity
http://castrojo.tumblr.com/post/4795149014/the-power-users-guide-to-unity
And I even shelled out some coin to print 2 dozen of these on poster board:
https://dl.dropbox.com/sh/nemk8iz5obbkyz8/K7lchxsV38/1204-poster-5.pdf
The latter seemed to produce the best results for me but I'm hoping others will share their favorite intros to Unity so I can have a look :D

How about this (http://www.howtoforge.com/introduction-to-the-ubuntu-unity-desktop)?

I like it, maybe not quite comprehensive enough though, that's why I posted this :)
Some guides give a very simple intro and others give a complex intro. I'm looking for just the right combo of simple and comprehensive.
That said HowtoForge's Perfect Desktop series is absolutely great. That is where I started quite some time ago, it's an excellent resource. It typically even gives you just enough of a taste of CLI to get a serious user interested.

I did come across a PDF, but I thought it might've been too much. I think it does a good job of introducing Unity though.
Here's the link:
Unity Desktop Guide (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=5&ved=0CHAQFjAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.linbrary.com%2Fubuntu%2F1104% 2Febooks%2FUbuntu_1104_Unity_Desktop_Guide.pdf&ei=klwFUOTfBoLb0QG0ofTFCA&usg=AFQjCNHWXNJW3uazwCVzi635ZadTlYWkwg)
There's also an article about Unity on one of the editions of Full Circle Magazine. I forgot which one, but I think it was written on the cover page so it'll be easy to track down. When I was just getting into Unity, I read it and things made a lot more sense. Although, I think it's far too simple for what you're looking for. Perhaps you could take bits and pieces of guides to make a complete guide to Unity? I'd be happy to help. :)

That PDF seems to focus too much on 11.04 and IMHO 12.04 was a huge improvement after dropping "dodge-windows". I realize that's controversial though :)
Right now I need to go bounce around on an old tractor but hopefully the mods will let this thread live and we can continue to share thoughts :D

Not found peeked my interest in video and after some looking I also like this a lot:
http://www.howtogeek.com/119219/an-introduction-overview-of-unity-in-ubuntu-12.04-for-beginners-video/
For pure text this is also good:
http://linuxlibrary.org/unity-desktop-introduction/
Something I find a bit odd is that I can't find anything in our own wiki. That certainly doesn't mean it doesn't exist, just that I haven't found it

There's always the Getting Started with Ubuntu 12.04 (http://ubuntu-manual.org/) manual, which is available as a free pdf download. You can get it from the site I linked or directly through the Ubuntu Software Center.

I'm more interested in a brief intro for those who freak out :)
Particularly since it was recommended for 10.04 users to wait until 12.04.1 next month to upgrade, I suspect we'll get a whole new round of negative comments when that happens.
I'm just trying to be prepared ;)

This really is great:
http://ubuntu-manual.org/downloads
It's easily search-able to help with specific issues and it's simple enough I'd think almost anyone can understand it :D
Thanks thatguruguy.
