When im gaming I inevitably accidentally hit the ALT key that then opens up the drop down search and I cant recover the game. Can someone please tell me how to turn off the alt search function altogether?
Did not find an option in system settings/keyboard
thanks!

Hi userqq.

That functionality is called HUD (head up display).

The easiest way is to disable it is by blanking its shortcut:

Open System Settings > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Launchers > Key to show HUD

Thanks for responding. Im using precise pangolin and the sequence that you wrote is not there.
The sequence that I have is:
System settings>keyboard layout>OPTIONS..
After that there are a bunch of differrent options but there is no
"Shortcuts>Launchers >key to show HUD" as you described.

Just got knocked off a game again (ugh)
thanks for trying
:confused:

You have a switch for the hud in the configuration program 'unsettings'

You can install it with this line:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:diesch/testing && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install unsettings

You can start Unsettings from System Settings or from the dash, choose 'windows' in the list on the left and flip the switch for 'Show HUD'.
Now the Hud won't pop up when you press alt. :popcorn: Happy gaming!
