View Full Version : [lubuntu] Resolvconf Corrupt on install.

July 14th, 2012, 07:31 PM

I'm trying to install Lubuntu from CD using the Alternate_ISO for PC's with less than 700mb of RAM.

All goes well until the base system install and then I get a Debootstrap warning stating that resolvconf_1.63ubuntu11_all.deb was corrupt.

I have tried downloading this several times and have burned the iso onto multiple CD's but they all fail at the same point.

Any idea's?

Cheers, Rocky!

Welcome Rocky. How much RAM do you have? The reason why I ask is you can install Lubuntu with 292 Mbs of RAM. That of course is the bare minimum. I have installed Lubuntu 12.04 on an old Dell with 440Mbs of RAM so I know that works and it runs very well. Bottom line is that you do not have to use the alternate install.

Thanks Rex.

The laptop I'm installing on has 512mb of RAM.

I'm just trying with the Desktop ISO but it appears to be freezing on the startup screen. (The one similar to Ubuntu, where the 5 dots light up.)

I have a minimal install of Windows XP on the laptop, which I'm hoping to replace.

No luck on the Lubuntu front. Both the desktop and alternative iso's get me nowhere fast... they either freeze or fail!

Ubuntu 8.04 LTS installs without a hitch though.

Re-check the MD5Sum on your download to make absolutely sure that you have a good download.

If 8.04 will boot, I suspect that perhaps you have a bad download. When you burned the ISO (Lubuntu) to the CD, did you do it at a low speed? (That just betters your chance of a good burn).
