How do I customice the Launcher?

For instance, can I remove (but not un-install) LibreOffice Calc and LibreOffice Impress icons which are apps I seldom use from the launcher bar, or add an icon to the launcher bar for app I use often, such as Rhytembox?

To be clear, the Launcher is the pop up bar that appears when you push the mouse to the left of the screen.

You can right click and "Unlock from Launcher" to remove any of the icons you don't want. In similar fashion, once you open an app you can right click on the icon and select "Lock to Launcher".

In Unity you can also drag icons from the Dash (the window you get when pressing the Super key) and drop them on the launcher.

Here (http://askubuntu.com/questions/13758/how-can-i-edit-create-new-launcher-items-in-unity-by-hand) is a resource that may come in handy if you decide to write your own or modify existing launchers.

Here (http://askubuntu.com/questions/35488/what-custom-launchers-and-unity-quicklists-are-available) are a few scripts that you may find useful. I replaced all my LO launchers with the single menu launcher.

Oh, thank you so much for those links!

I have Xampp installed on my Ubuntu and it doesn't come with an icon or install via apt-get so it is never available in the dash.
