Hi all,

I have downloaded the 12.04 64 server install image, and I am trying to install it on a KVM host running 10.04 64-bit.

The problem is that the installation hangs on a black screen and does no activity once I tell it to install Ubuntu.

It does not matter whether I tell it to install the default installation or a minimal virtual machine, it does not progress.

Any help? Thanks.

I'm running into the same problem trying to install 12.04 i386 (server version) inside a KVM on another 12.04 i386 (desktop version).

If I enable a serial console I see some trace information being logged. It seems to be some module that modprobe is trying to load.

It seems to be a problem with the 12.04 installer's detection of hardware (modprobe).

11.10 installation works fine, then I'm going to upgrade using do-release-upgrade.
