Newbie here,

After a while experimenting with Unity, I decided I wanted to try the gnome 3 desktop. I went through the paces, and terminal tells me the latest packages are installed, but every time I boot up I still get Unity.

I disabled autologon, but I don't see any options to choose desktop. And I'd like to make this automatic eventually anyway.

Is there something I need to do, or is something broken?

Thanks.

Ok, i got this sorted. The power icon leads to the shell selector, and the choice is persistent. Looks like both problems are solved.

Yes, so you can turn auto-login back on and you get logged in to your last session type each boot.
