My netbook is running Ubuntu Network Edition (10.04). I want to upgrade to standard Ubuntu LTS 12.04. What do I need to do?

Ensure that you've got enough time to upgrade your version of Ubuntu without any power failure. I mean choose that time of day which will be free of any power cut. Then create a back-up of all of your files. Close all apps and files before upgradation.
1. Open update manager,
2. Look for upgrade button and click on it,
3. Follow on-screen directions.
