I have been doing my ussual searching the internet for latest Ubuntu/linux news. (And playing on Desura.) I came across a article saying 2012: The year of Linux gaming. So I read the article and it got me thinking. Is it the year of Linux gaming? Or is 2012 only the beginning for Linux gaming?

We have seen a number of stories make linux headlines. Humble Indie Bundles, Ubuntu Software Centers game sales, EA put 2 games on USC, Desura members count gets bigger, Steam offically coming to Linux, Linus flipping off Nvidia (I loved that.), Unity 4 engine now working for Ubuntu, Kickstarter projects coming to linux. The list is continuously growing.

What is your thoughts?

I've never been into gaming. I guess the following article can help you :

I think the Source Engine will be a strong boost for gaming on Linux. Having Steam/Source Engine will be nice, but it is also important that developers start producing more games to sell on the Linux version of Steam.

I'm waiting for the time when a couple of AAA titles are released within a year for Linux. When that happens, I would call it the year of Linux gaming.

I think 2012 is off to a good start, though.

That is also a great article. I also really believe this only the beginning and it is off to an interesting start.
