Personally, I think I might.

I think that most people here don't use ubuntu for the fact that it is free.

And these poll things that you use are really quite cool.

I would but I'm not using Ubuntu right now, it's not even on my hard drive because of a stupid mistake. I tried to repartition my HDD to make room for Archlinux with the ubuntu install cd partitioner and it corrupted my partitions. I ran fsck all day but I couldn't fix it. So I just installed Arch an it's great but I am planning to install it soon. Sorry for the long explanation. So...Yes, I would pay for Ubuntu.

No way I would ever pay for a Linux distro.
1) The money never filters down to the right people, the developers of software, just the packagers.
2) There isn't a big enough differentiation between Ubuntu and other free (as in beer) distros to warrent paying. If Ubuntu went commerical and you were forced to pay for it I would go back to Debian.
3) You can already pay for it if you want. Doesn't Ubuntu sell CDs?

They will send you cds for free if you order them. Ubuntu doesn't charge you anything for shipping either.

I will not pay. But not because I don't like Ubuntu, but because if they were going to sell Ubuntu, they would be breaking their commitment in providing a free OS, not only free as in freedom, but free as in free beer. That's tantamount to lying, for me, and I couldn't trust them anymore. If they would have plans to sell Ubuntu, or foresee the future need to do it, they should make it a known fact from the very beginning.

As for the poll about which poll I like better, I prefer the ubuntuforums poll because it's integrated into the forums. No need for new windows.

Btw, don't you think that Red for No and Green for Yes is more appropriate?

You can already pay for Ubuntu, just in a round-about fashion:

Actually a friend of mine created the Detrave Polls, It does have edit features but I don't see the edit function to change the color of individual selections. I will PM him and see.

EDIT:

There are up to 16 selections available, thus 16 unique colors, 15 are shown below:

next time I will be more carefull of the selection placement.

It's ok. It's just a bit confusing, specially if you don't read the labels. Green usually stands for Go/Yes, and Red for Stop/No. But who says you can't be unique. :D

Every computer user should have the freedom to run, copy, distribute, study, share, change and improve their software for any purpose, without paying licensing fees.
Every computer user should be able to use their software in the language of their choice.
Every computer user should be given every opportunity to use software, even if they work under a disability.

this will never happen, nor should it ever. life is not a free (money-wise) ride. you are going to have to pay for some things somewhere. software licensing is not going away, people need to make a living.

the flagship application of my company costs $1400 per month, yes, per month. there are more applications that we make to work with it, and you can of course tack some more money onto that. this is trading software, you as an individual wouldnt just buy it or attempt to use it, your firm most likely would pay the bill. still, i go to work to get paid (not the only reason, its the issue at hand), not to just work on this for strengthening my finger tips.
