I have just had a tablet pc as a present and the operating system is android, I would like to install Ubuntu on it but have no idea how to go about it.

Can anyone tell me:
A} How to do this and
B} is this the best OS to try i.e. is there something better suited to my needs

The tablet is a MID m7206 running Android version 2.3.3 with kernal 2.6.35.7-infoTM

It doesn't have enough memory to install Ubuntu. It might work with the ARM version of Lubuntu, but it's a long shot.

Ok thanks, would love to get something other than the android OS on there as it is really not my cup of tea.

My biggest problem is that I have no idea how to get the tablet to boot to anything other than its current OS. I have a usb stick which I can put Ubuntu et al on but don't know how to get the device to boot to it.

When I Googled: jailbreak m7206

out came the worst collection of garbage I have ever seen. You might also try "root" or "unlock," but it won't be easy.
