View Full Version : [ubuntu] 12.04 has me stuck at 1920x1080 which my computer CANNOT handle...

So, in the last release, I could use quite a variety of different resolutions, but 12.04 limits me to only 1920x1080, 1024x768, and 800x600 resolutions. I don't remember what the exact resolution was, but it was smaller than 1920x1080 and didn't cause lag whenever I tried to switch workspaces. However, 1024x768 doesn't work properly (and is smaller than my previously used resolution anyway) and I'm not about to even try 800x600. This is upsetting as Ubuntu has always let me enjoy a lot of freedom with things like this, and now suddenly that's all gone. Is there any way that I can unlock the option to go back to another resolution? If I had to guess I'd say it was 1200x900 or something like that. I'm using an HD TV as my monitor so I can really use whatever resolution I need, so long as my computer lets me.
