Depends on which virtualization you are using (KVM, virsh, vbox ...)

thanks - I'm using vbox. I friend set up my system but he's no where around for support. I spinning up as fast as I can on vm. Also critin stated stated there's a sticky at the top of this forum for learning cmmds - don't see it but I'll keep searching.

If VB is open, just click on it and then move your mouse pointer to the top left hand corner of your desk top to reveal the hidden menu. Under "File" click exit. I sometimes have to do it twice.

However, if you are running an OS in VB, then it's best to shut down the OS first and then shut down VB.

Do you have an OS running in VB or is VB just open and on your desk top?
