Installation problem

I am attempting to install Ubuntu on my Mac because of OS problems. The last time I got OS X to work, I had 220 GB of hard-drive space, but Ubuntu refuses to let me install it because it says I dont have the 4 GB required. What do I do?

First of all, it would be handy to know what kind of Mac you have. We also need the hardware number, which you can get by going to: Apple icon -> About this Mac -> More Info.

For example, on my MacBook Air it says: "MacBook Air 4,2"

Once we have this, we can then link the appropriate documentation.
