12.04 Cinnamon - detach child windows

I've tried using deconf-editor but even changing the /org/gnome/shell/overrides to attach-modal-dialogs to false (unchecking the box), the child windows are still attached.

Does anyone have a solution?

Here is a picture of a program window open with a child window that is "locked" to the parent window (see arrow).

This problem is apparently NOT-SOLVABLE at this time!
