I know this is probably a question that has been asked before. However, I want to use Cairo-Dock in the 12.04 version of Ubuntu with Unity. The instructions say, "To easily create a new launcher simply drag the icon for the application from the main menu and drop it on the dock"

That is great and this worked fine on previous versions of Unbuntu but not there is no main menu. I have tried dragging the icon from the Unity launcher onto the dock, that does not work. I have also installed the "ClassicMenu" indicator which is very cool as it gives me the Gnome style menu with the Unity environment but I cannot drag those icons onto the Cairo-Dock either.

I saw some guide that said "to add any application to the Cairo-Dock, use the context menu and select pin to dock" but I have no idea where that is or what they are talking about.

Help!

Never mind, I figured it out. I drag the icon from the Unity dash.

Actually by default the Applications Menu applet is enabled, so you can just drag any program from this menu into the dock.
