Hello -

I've just installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit for testing purposes on a machine I built. The installation went smoothly and setup was fine. I installed onto one of the three hard drives via a flash drive. No issues.

Upon rebooting, I was given the option to boot Ubuntu or Win7 - I chose Ubuntu and that's the last thing I could read on the screen.

It turned purple, then orange, then a welcoming burnt siena, but was flickering so badly I had to look away. Getting to the terminal did nothing except stop the flickering - couldn't enter any commands or see any text.

Specs:

Asus P8H67 mobo
4GB RAM
Intel Core i5-2500K @ 3,3GHz
XFX AMD Radeon HD 6950 @ stock

From my preliminary research, I gather that there is a Radeon issue. However, all the threads I saw concerned either older and outdated Radeon and Radeon HD cards, or else laptop cards. Someone elsewhere gave me a long reply on known issues with nVidia. I'm not using nVidia here.

Any information on fixing this would be great. I have not even seen the login screen yet because everything is flickering so much.

Please don't be afraid to use technical terms and whatnot. I'll understand you!
