If you like me are an avid Chess-o-holic then you probably enjoy Chess documentaries.

There are many about, some bad, some good, some weird.

I have a huge collection but for some reason i have never come across this one before, i came across it today.

The Great Chess Movie in 3 parts, thoroughly enjoyed it, a little on the weird side which is how i like it. I like it cause it covers many players instead of focusing on just one which alot of documentaries on Chess tend to do.

love the idea of the game, and I have a basic knowledge, but I just haven't put in the time to be any good.

This site doesn't teach you about how to play Chess, but the Chess Variant Pages (http://www.chessvariants.org/) is definitely a place to check out if you're really interested in Chess :)

Hi,

I have this one (The Great Chess Movie) since the 80īs maybe 85 and recently converted to mkv. At that time chess was my sport. Enjoy playing with the chess computers of the day like the Fidelity Par-excellence with a 2100 ELO rating. Not bad. http://www.spacious-mind.com/html/par_excellence.html

Regards.

Me too. I know how the game is played, but I haven't put any time at all into learning how to formulate strategies.

I used to play chess quite a bit 3-5 years ago - I don't play it too much anymore. But hey, at least I can program a chess engine that would be capable of beating myself. :)

Here's a recent post by Susan Polgar (superstar, easily best female player in history) with some good free chess training + problem sites, see http://susanpolgar.blogspot.com.au/2011/11/best-chess-training-websites.html.

That would be her sister Judit ;-)

But the polgar sister are awesome, even though they were an experiment, the results were amazing. Personally i prefer Alexandra Kosteniuk who is just.....well....mmmmm....yeah that about says it LOL
