View Full Version : Is it okay to mix rechargeable batteries in a battery grip?

I've recently purchased a battery grip for my canon but I can't find another standard battery to use in the grip with the standard canon one I already have. I know it isn't recommended to mix other batteries in other similar products but does this rule still apply to rechargeables?

In short, I'm wondering whether I should be buying two brand new batteries of the same make rather than mix two of a different make, cheers.

Not a Ubuntu support question

It's not a good idea to mix brands of batteries, ever, even rechargeables.

It'll work fine, assuming the batteries are of an appropriate type. Hybrids should work ok in pretty much anything. One thing to watch out for is that rechargeables are 1.2V instead of 1.5V.

Never had an issue mixing rechargables.

I believe that it will eventuall effect the load cycle of the batteries. Since each battery is at a different level when your recharging, each battery will degrade at a different point (each individual battery will lose there ability to hold potential at different rates). Therefore when you plug in two different potential held batteries your device may not respond correctly.
