In Classic Gnome use Alt + Right Click . The default indicators are locked down in Unity and the Gnome Shell . https://live.gnome.org/GnomeShell/Screenshots

In the Gnome Shell extensions can be used to add or hide some panel indicators. Additional items in Unity will appear in the order of installation from right to left if they included a panel icon.
