killed gnome with a screenshot attempt

to reproduce, take screenshot, use menu select area, dont select an area with the mouse. The whole desktop locks up for a few minutes.
It tried to generate error reports several times but said the report was corrupted. And now I have no top bars on any windows so will have to log out.

I logged out with cntl alt delete, then it said
could not write bytes- broken pipe.
So I had to do a reboot.
