Some commercial software that looks rather cool: http://userful.com/products/dm

Desktop Multiplier™ is a software add-on that allows your Linux operating system to support up to 10 independent users, monitors and keyboards with just one PC.So what do people think? Great for saving money on classroom PC's? What other applications are there? Has anyone tested it?

The one in the repos can be registered for free.

The product is a trial version with a nag screen. To get rid of the nag
screen, end-users may either register for a free 2 user version for
non-commercial use, or may purchase commercial support for up to 10 users per
PC.
