View Full Version : [xubuntu] windows not lining up with top panel

Running Xubuntu 12.04 with compiz. I'm using just the top panel, with cairo-dock on the bottom. The problem is that many applications when started start at the top of the screen, rather than lining up at the bottom of the top panel. For example, terminals open in the very top left, then I have to drag them to stick them against the panel.

Thanks for any advice!

Activate the Place plugin in CompizConfig Settings Manager and set it to Smart Placement.

Cheers!

Xfce also has a margin setting which sets the top, left, right and bottom margin so that a full-sized window will only go so far as the margin and no further.

Isn't there a setting for the panel that tells it to always be on top of windows, or to not allow windows to cover?

Sorry, I don't have my Xubuntu in front of me for more precise directions.
