Neat little app. for you http://airdroid.com/. install to your phone and you can connect from your Linux PC.
BRilliant bit of kit!
By the way,do not click on the Googleplay tab--click on the 'downloadAPK' underneath.

It does sound neat, but I hate and really distrust connecting through 3rd parties. I really don't trust them despite their claim of encryption.
Although not nearly as neat of cool, I just run a ssh daemon on my phone and connect to the phone directly. Sure its a non-graphical environment however I can dowload files via sftp. I also rsync to and from the phone a lot. All of this independent of a third party. The app you site gives a lot more functionality, its just the trust factor I'm having a hard time with.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I prefer to just plug it in by a cable as a USB storage device and copy files to/from that way? No security risks, no app needed.
