I have gnome-shell installed on my Ubuntu but i cant find the frenza icon in my downloads.
this i sthe steps i used;
1. Using synaptic package manager, i searched for 'gnome-shell' and install it.
2. At terminal window, i typed "gksudo nautilus",then it opens up my Home screen.
3. I open the root folder and selected the following;

4. When i open, it is empty. Can't find the frenza folder

dont know what you mean by "frenza", but if you are looking at a downloaded file then use the "search" nautilus feature icon to get it

Not sure why you would think that installing Gnome shell also downloads icon themes. I assume you are talking about the Faenza icon theme, which is available for download at the best website around for Gnome visual stuff- gnome-look (http://gnome-look.org/).
For instruction on how to install the icon theme once you have it, see here (http://cortman.wordpress.com/2012/02/25/how-to-install-themesicons-in-gnome-shell/).

If want to install Faenza icons directly to usr/share/icons you can add the PPA at the link . The set will be updated automatically.http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2010/08/faenza-icon-set-gets-a-ppa
