Ahahaha! Well, some things never change with Windows, I guess. Wow.

I didn't know that this was available.... or should I say I had forgotten.

I used to use a shutdown script, that would create an image of a selection of network drives for offline use.

I have noticed that in vista using the supplied 'shutdown' button, doesn't in fact shut down the laptop.

If you use it, then unplug your laptop and leave it in a corner for a week or 2 you will come back to it and it will have no power left in the battery. Admitedly it then makes 'booting up' much quicker, but it is going to kill the battery over time.

But then I guess if the battery dies sooner, most people will 'buy a new laptop' rather then replace the battery, which can only be good for business (manufacturer and MS !).
