i have downloaded the Ubuntu ISO and burned it to a disk but i am having an issue installing the OS. No matter which computer i try to use, it will not boot from the disk. I know the ISO is burned to the disk because when i look at the disk in my computer it shows all the Ubuntu files but no option to start the installation. If it makes a difference, i have burned it first with FreeISOBurner from freeisoburner.com and when that didn't work i formatted the disk and then burned it again with Daemon tools lite. I am a noob to linux and ISO burning (which may or may not be obvious) so any help will be much appreciated.

If it won't boot any computer, there's a problem with the burn. Check the md5 sum and burn at the slowest speed possible. Some burners only go down to 4, but that should work.

Be sure to push the 'Boot From' key on the Bios page, or change the Bios boot order if necessary to boot from CD.

Use a USB stick instead.

It won't 'run' like Windows does. It must be 'booted' from start-up.
