12.04 LTS crashing during installation

it goes until right after you name the computer and then crashes right after you click continue.

research said to:

sudo apt-get remove ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu

but all that did was make the installer not move past the welcome screen.

ive tried 2 live CD's so thats not the problem

Run ubiquity from a terminal and see if it leaves any tell tail signs after the crash.
Also check the logs file (/var/log/syslog), and from terminal type dmesg to see if anything helpful.

Anything in the /var/crash folder?
