Hello Guys,

I am new to Linux and I have used Fedora and Just now wanted to try Ubuntu and i am very happy with the OS. However, i wanted to get the GNOME 3.4 in it and i did install with the help of web, but when i log off and login selecting GNOME Desktop environment, i just get the background screen with the cursor and nothing else. I will have to restart and get back to Unity Environment. Please help, i need to get the GNOME on my Ubuntu.

I have Nvidia 9500 GT 1 GB.

You should have installed it like this,

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gnome-shell

Then make sure to reboot before logging in.
