dear community,

the default layout of the workspaces in ubuntu 12.04 running a unity 2d session is 2x2 but i would like to change this to all workspaces being positioned in one horizontal row (e.g. 4x1 or 3x1).

can anybody tell me how to set this up?

this entry at askubuntu (http://askubuntu.com/questions/143510/single-row-of-workspaces-with-unity-2d) describes the same issue, but the described solution seems not to work for me, am i missing something?
the problem with the proposed solution is that the layout reverts to 2x2 after the next reboot.

many thanks,
regards,
anti

somewhat hard to believe for me but it really seems as if unity 2d users are bound to use the 2x2 standard. :(

despite the rumor of unity 2d being discontinued in future versions it seems more and more that gnome wasn't such a bad thing at all, so i might try to change back to there whenever i find the time...

should anybody manage to change the virtual desktop layout to single-rowed in unity2d in the mean time i am happy to hear how.
