Another successful upgrade :guitar: in the series from 9.10 (maybe 9,04). The machine has 2 MB memory (upgraded from 512 KB) but is standard otherwise. I'm curious how long I can keep the string running or the computer for that matter.

It seems Ubuntu has the upgrade routine pretty well under control, at least for the old boxes I use.

I'm disappointed with the performance 12.04 on this machine with Unity 2D. I run Linux Mint 13 MATE and Ubuntu 10.04 on this box too. Unity 2D seems very slow and unresponsive and is disappointing in comparison to the other two. It works OK for playing DVDs and music. It doesn't seem to be a good solution for older machines though ... at least not with lower quality video.

I like the whole Unity idea and how Ubuntu went with GNOME 3. They didn't whine about GNOME 3, they just fixed it in the way they thought best. I'm really trying to like Unity 2D but this probably isn't the box for it.
